Summary: Noise masquerading as rock.
Comment: What a disappointment!

I put this into the cd player hoping to be blown away by some seriously good blues/rock but....well, 6 plays later, I'm still waiting. Maybe it's too American for my taste but if you want good blues/rock music tune into Paul Rodgers, Free, Ian Siegal etc.

Joe Bonamassa can certainly play (apparently he opened for BB King when he was 12!) but I couldn't discern any soulful connection between him & the noise coming out of the speakers.

Soul-less.

Summary: if you have only one, make it THIS one
Comment: I have "discovered" Bonamassa with this album and I have been totally impressed and seduced. It is a top mix of rock, acoustic, blues, etc, with good vocals and exceptional guitar that sounds like ... his own style but tinted with Beck (intro to "Django"), Clapton, even BB King at times ... basically all the good influences.
So after getting this I bought all his previous CD's and in the end, this one live album remains my favourite. You could be satisfied with this one only. Great guy, who succeeds in standing out in the overcrowded "blues rock guitar" arena.

Summary: Overrated--Good,but no Derek Trucks
Comment: How JB got to be voted best blues guitarist 2 years in succession is beyond me--he's good, but if you want superb, seek out the work of Derek Trucks. On some of his own band discs he's a little jazzy for some,I guess,so try the Allman Brothers Band's One Way out, where you'll not only get the wunderkind DT,but also Warren Hayes, another Hall of Fame alumni.I don't think Amazon offer this disc, but the "alternate suppliers" do,and it can be very reasonably priced. It's not for nothing that they are considered the best damned live band in the world, and once you try this, you'll be saying "joe Bonamassa?Ho hum!"One Way Out: Live at The Beacon Theatre

Summary: Brilliant but short
Comment: I totally agree with all the reviews raving about the quality of the music and the performances. However, what no one has mentioned is how short the CDs are: a total of 100 mins over 2 CDs. Remember that you can get nearly 80 mins on one CD. Surely more could have been added to make these even better value and give his growing fanbase more of his tremendous extended tracks. There are two extended tracks which show Joe at his best. I'd like to have heard even more of these and more acoustic.

Summary: Dont think, buy!
Comment: This is the best live blues album for years.
Like Robert Cray?, then this is for you.
Dont think just buy it.
Love from Joe's mum (not).
