Summary: Didn't work for me.
Comment: Don't get me wrong, homeplugs are a brilliant idea and I recommend them highly. For you, these may even work, but for me, they didn't.
I purchased these with confidence in the seller (Amazon themselves) and all the good reviews. But when I plugged one of these in next to my computer (and yes also connected to my modem router) and one upstairs to my Xbox 360. They wouldn't link. I thought the software might help but no. So I thought maybe upstairs and downstairs on different circuits. But no. I brought both plugs downstairs, put them next to each other, one connected to my PC and the other to the modem router and still they would not link. Got the odd flicker of lights when turned them on but would not link.
Sending them back as defective. Im sure when they work they're a perfect product at a great price, but not for me. Purchasing some different homeplugs once my refund has gone through - Printing the return labels as I type.

Summary: perfect for basic broadband internet.
Comment: I have been using a wireless G router for quite some time now and when I go upstairs to access the internet the signal becomes very weak and as a result the speed of the internet is dramatically reduced.
So to overcome this problem I decided to go for these, and oh boy what a difference, I can now use iplayer without having to wait 15mins for the episode to load. So now I have wireless downstairs and ethernet upstairs and all I did was hook one plug into the back of the router's wired outlet and another plug upstairs and into my laptop, no software or huge reels of cable needed, top notch.
All I suggest is that you hould only use these in a small house e.g 3 bedroom as to not suffer from a slow speed connection and also make sure that your house has one ring main and not 2 e.g 1 fuse/switch for downstairs and a seperate one for upstairs.

Comment: I used two of these to connect my linux network server (the nslu29) and an old freecom 35 media player they worked perfectly out of the box, did not and indeed could not install any software and I can now watch my collection of Divx and mp3 files in my living room from the little server in a bedroom. Spot on

Comment: Using these atm to stream music from media player to upstairs and also internet access for the playstation. They work so well, I can also stream high quality videos as well, something which was unreliable with wireless.
First installing them was as easy as plugging them in and turning on the power, they come with cat5e cables and the units themselves fit correctly into a double plug only restricting the power switch slightly.
A complete bargain!

Comment: After reading the reviews and a friend had recently fitted some Home Plugs, everyone seemed happy with them so took the plunge, ordered on the saturday 27th but an E-mail said delivery would be on Jan 5th, no worries there though they came on 31st. Opened the box put 1 Plug into socket and connected to a Router no problem, went upstairs same again connected Ethernet to Xbox360, switched Xbox on and Live came up straight away no problems at all. No lag which you can get with wireless, Overall an excellent and easy to fit product, early days but so far so good.
