Summary: Not so good
Comment: After suffering at the hands of my Netgear WPN111, I thought this was my solution.
Unfortuneately, it is worse than my WPN111, and if you want to buy my edimax unit, you can have it for half price, including post.
At least I shall get a little of my money back.

Comment: I did my homework before I decided which route to follow to go wireless.
After Spending many hours reading other peoples reviews, I was quite shocked to discover just how badly Netgear and Belkin products have scored on here! They are the better known and more expensive brands on the market, but don't be fooled into thinking because they cost more they are going to be better!
I have a new HP Pavillion desktop, so installing a wireless LAN PCI Card was out of the equation as the last thing you really want to be doing with a brand new computer is getting a screwdriver to it and opening it up.
The obvious choice for me was the Edimax EW-7318USG as it is simply a USB 2.0 plug & play device. I also ordered the ReSMA 9db 2.4GHz rubber duck antenna as I noticed these items are frequently bought together.
I'm not going to say this was a doddle to set up and get running in ten minutes or so...It took me more like 2 hours of fettling around with it to get connected, though this was mainly through no fault of the product itself!
I didn't bother to run the software provided. It's clearly printed on the software itself 10 June 2006 ~ so obviously this isn't a driver designed for windows Vista. Acting upon advice I had previously read in someone else's review I went to the Edimax website (via Google) and downloaded the correct up-to date drivers for Vista.
First problem I found - with the adapter plugged directly into the back of my HP P.C, I am unable to mount the antenna pointing upwards. This is due to the USB sockets on my computer being configured the opposite way around to allow for this.
This small problem was soon overcome by fitting the supplied USB extension cable which then allowed me to fasten the antenna in a higher position on the back of my computer's desk.
Second problem I kept getting a message reading Edimax wireless Lan could not be configured, which turned out to be a bad connection between the adapter and extension cable/USB socket, so if you're using this make sure you push fit it together tight.
The last problem I was faced with is you need your WEP Password to hand which is a unique security code to your router. In my case this was eventually found in a talktalk settings icon on my desktop. Pheew!!!
Finally a couple of hours later and everything is up and running properly. The device auto connects to the internet on start up of the computer.
Signal strength is usually Good at 100%, with the lowest I've witnessed being 70% but that's not very often. It can even receive signals from half a dozen other houses in my street with my nextdoor neighbours consistantly showing at 86%!!
My router is located under a phone table in the hallway and my desktop P.C is in the lounge 18ft away, through one internal wall.

Comment: I have tried several other wireless adaptors that claim to work with Vista but had little or no luck with them. It had got so bad my family wouldn't use that particular PC. After reading the reviews and the fact it was cheap I thought I'd give this a go. I already had the RA link software installed but removed it for the newer version. What a difference, plug the adaptor in and found straight away and so was the network.
If you are using Vista (as the other reviews say) make sure you've downloaded the updated vista drivers for it.
I cannot believe it is so difficult to get one of these to work with Vista.
Thanks to all the previous reviews, I now have a happier family.
One last thing - excellent service from Amazon, free delivery ordered 23 Dec arrived 30th.

Summary: Not Great!!
Comment: Worked well for the first 3 weeks of having it. Now I came home one night and thought it was broken. I have tested it in my friend's machine and it's still working, however it's not in mine. It keeps saying that the USB is not recognised, but I know the USB ports work. On the rare occasions that I can get it to work, It cuts itself off. Not too impressed I'm afraid.

Comment: I'm totally happy with this product, but it was a bit of a hassle installing it. The CD supplied contains the Mac driver, but the installation guide provided is for PCs only. I ended up getting the Apple Mac installation guide from the edimax website, and then had the adaptor up and running in 5 minutes. Once installed, it does exactly what it should do.
