Summary: Useless
Comment: Mr Site (PC/Mac) I'VE ONLY GIVEN THIS ONE STAR AS NO STARS IS NOT ALLOWED.
This product is absolutely useless. Nothing works. I have been an editorial designer for five years and I've just spent four days trying to get a basic, working website out of this package and it's impossible. None of the information regarding styling and formatting is there when you return to a page to adjust something, so you have to start again. I've input my heading font, size and ticked the box to hide the sub heading, at least one hundred times. The manual tells you what the package can do, but doesnt tell you how. But then there's always the 50p/minute telephone solution! If you just want a copy of the designs they let you choose from then you might get lucky. But if you've got any creative bones in your body then forget it.
Imagine buying a car and finding out as you're driving along that the accelerator, clutch and brakes are controlled by the indicator pod, and when you press the accelerator the screen wash squirts out and you can't see where you're going because you don't know how the wipers work, so you turn the radio up just in case that's the right button... That's what it's like. I'm going out now to buy a web package that does work and when I get back in my big 4x4, I'm going to accidentally reverse over Mr Site. Then he'll soon be off to become a nice bit of 'landfill'. Perhaps, that's Mr Site's first name...

Summary: simple, impressive, really pleased
Comment: Contrary to a lot of reviews, I've found this product to be just what I was looking for, it fulfilled everything I expected of it. In fact more, as I was half expecting some problems due to all the negative reviews out there!
So far I've encountered nothing to make me regret my purchase. I constructed my website in a 3 hour evening, I consider the end result to look professional, individual & easy for the visitor to use.
You can amend, add or delete a page at a couple of clicks of a button. There are lots of templates to chose from, but even then each template is fully editable so you can personalise it & change it to your own design.
registering your website address & a year's hosting is included, I couldn't really ask for more from a package for the price. You can upgrade to a more professional package at any time, but as you get shopping carts, email addresses galore, blog, forum, photo gallery...etc with this package, there isn't much need especially if you're just starting out.
You may be able to tell, I'm very pleased!

Summary: A product that doesn't do what it says on the box!
Comment: As a new business start-up I spent some time researching my options before choosing to purchase this software. It had all the right messaging on the box about how easily I could create a website, the main tagline on the box says it "Everything you need to get the website you want online..... and it's seriously easy to use" - don't you just love the marketing people??
Well the box is where it starts and finishes for me - there are so many things wrong with this product that it's hard to know where to begin.
Don't be fooled by the price tag, the software is cheap because it is very basic and it's all done online (something they don't tell you on the box). You see Mr Site is not even an application you can install on your notebook or desktop - in order to use it you have to connected to the internet at all times and log in to the application. My plan was to install the software on my laptop and design as I go - I spend quite a bit of my time travelling and thought it would be an ideal time when sitting in airport lounges and on trains to get on with my website - how wrong was I? The only way I can use the software is when I am at home, in the office or have internet connection.
The templates are very basic and modifying them requires some skill and patience as you have to go back and forth a lot to try and see how the finished template will look - a simple preview would have been ideal. The application is very clunky to use and it heavily dependant on your connection speed. The upload times of pages can be at times very slow - I guess that's dependant on the number of users logged in on the server! It does say that you can design your own website and upload to the domain you have chosen - I thought this would be the right thing for me since I didn't like the "ready-made" templates. Uploading pre-created pages is a nightmare - I ended up spending a fortune on the telephone speaking to the "support" staff - in the end I got my new pages uploaded but by default I can no longer see my home page. This task is complicated and not for the non-tech savvy.
Which brings me on to my last point...support. The cornerstone of any good business is the service that the customer is provided, whether its at the time of pre-sales, at the time of purchase or once the customer has the product. Mr Site is oblivious to this point completely, once they have your money they could not care less. The service is poor, the communication terrible and the cost extortionate. I have had this software for nearly 18 months, long enough to form a valid view of the application and to be quite honest I would much rather have purchased a hosting package elsewhere as this would have been much cheaper and reliable.
Since purchasing this product I have come across an alternative which does actually do what it says on the box WebSite X5 Evolution (PC) and I could not be happier with my choice.
I think Mr Site should re-evaluate and reconsider their product tagline - "The world's favourite website in a box." Who are you kidding? Not me that's for sure!

Summary: Very frustrating!!!
Comment: I would advise people to only buy this product if you want a very basic website as it does not really give you many options for adding your own style but what I have found the most frustrating is the fact that I can never get access to their own website as they seem to have server problems most of the time. Also with the support they give you it takes them about 48 hours to get back to you - the old saying goes "you get what you pay for".
