Summary: It can work.......perhaps?
Comment: Just thought I'd confirm my experience with this adaptor, I've got two and one works like a dream, installed and never touched - it connects to the network every time the PC is switched on and never drops out.
On my other PC which has exactly the same XP OS it's a nightmare, the drivers will not install automatically on computer boot up so you have to leave it plugged in the front of the PC and then once the PC is booted un plug it and plug it in again with your fingers crossed. Sometimes even that does'nt work and you have to select another USB socket and search for the driver manually. I'm sure it's not the PC because I use loads of other USB devices without problems.
Problem was solved when I chucked it in the bin and installed a PCI wireless card!
Belkin normally supply quality kit but sometimes they make lemons as suggested by other reviewers.

Comment: Bought this as Belkin appear to be reputable brand. Whilst not an expert, I am reasonably PC literate and have set up wireless networks (successfully) before. I installed it as per instructions. It went like a dream and I was on the internet in minutes. That night I switch off PC. Next day, switch on - no wireless connection. Try to open Belkin software and it tells me to connect the adapter 1st - it is already connected! No matter what, software won't open and cannot get a connection. Tried various things, including uninstalling and starting from scratch, but no joy. It's going back for a refund tomorrow.

Comment: ive used it for around a week,ive been looked through all the reviews before i placed this order, because it seems didnt work for many buyers.But i still want to have a go, as my friend suggest me to buy one of their product. But i feel very impressed on this adapter,it hasnt got any problems from the day i received. Im using windows XP,but im not sure is it work on vista.The connection get on well,easy install,good design.
One problem is the standard of my wireless router (G),ive checked the transfer rate is up to 54mbits/sec, but im so sure if i get a G+ wireless rounter, it must go up to 125. Recommand to buy.

Comment: Adapter worked for a week with no problems (apart from sometimes getting a very weak signal from a wireless router attached to a PC 10 metres away in a downstairs room) and then died. The green LED would not light up. I contacted Belkin who told me to change some settings. This didn't work. I re-installed the software. This didn't work so I downloaded new drivers from Belkin website. Still no luck. I returned the adapter to Belkin who sent me a new one free of charge as part of their lifetime warranty. It worked for 1 hour but when I went to use it several hours later it had died again - no green LED. Re-installed software - still no life. Attached it to a different PC - still no life.
I wouldn't recommend this device. It may be cheap but spend more money and get a decent adapter.

Comment: This was my 1st(of 2)BELKIN usb adapters i purchased for my 2 pc`s,Both running XP.
whilst the software DID install fine,i was initally shocked at the SHODDY manufacture of the device,it`s NOT a SNUG fit in ANY usb port,as you`d expect from a usb device,but reminded me of the Old(and i mean OLD!)Days of the ZX81 and it`s RAM pack add-on,which would wobble like mad!
Anywho,was INITALLY impressed,it found the signal,was getting 54mbps/Very good strength.great........
HOWEVER!,next time(and in fact nearly EVERYTIME since then?)when i boot Pc up from scratch?the unit appears DEAD! the green LED?LIFELESS,yet the software appears to be,at least telling it to scan!
i have had to.unplug+reconnect unit and/or get windows to run a repair file,just to connect!
tried..........well everything,replaced USELESS cradle with a gold plated! usb extension lead,went to belkins tech.support site,downloaded LATEST DRIVERS.problems persisted!uninstalled and reinstalled product.....still NO JOY!
so?Emailed Belkin,explained situ.in depth!
1st reply?we understand you are looking for drivers...etc(errrr?NO! i`m looking for results!)
Emailed AGAIN.....2nd reply?try uninstalling and reinstalling!

gonna give it 2 stars,as i DO get a great signal,but...........?i AM replacing this product with something of a Higher std.
